We are committed to providing an inclusive experience for all our visitors. That’s why we’re proud to support the Access Card Scheme, a nationally recognised system that simplifies access for visitors with additional needs.
We offer complimentary Essential Companion tickets for visitors who hold an Access Card featuring the +1 or +2 symbol – bookable online.
If you don’t have an Access Card, you can apply to Nimbus Disability for a FREE The Alex Digital Access Pass (DAP) so you can book an Essential Companion ticket for your visit.

Who is Nimbus Disability?
We’ve chosen to pass the registration scheme to the same organisation that runs the ‘Access Card’. Nimbus Disability is a social enterprise and an organisation run by and for disabled people, and is recognised as a lead authority on accessible ticketing in the UK.
Don’t have an Access Card?
You can choose one of 2 options:
Free The Alex Digital Access Pass
- This pass is only valid for events at The Alex
- You can submit a free application for a Digital Access Pass via Nimbus.
- As part of the application, you will need to provide relevant evidence and a narrative about your access requirements, allowing Nimbus to allocate the appropriate symbols representing the barriers you face.
- Once your application is approved, your Digital Access Pass will be valid for three years. You will receive a digital ID number.
- You can use your Digital Access Pass ID Number to book online for events at The Alex.
Access Card (£15 for 3 years – valid at all participating venues)
- You will receive a physical card in the post, which can be used as proof of access requirements and is recognised by thousands of venues and events across the UK and internationally.
- The Access Card features symbols that discreetly highlight the barriers you face and the reasonable adjustments you may need, such as level access, essential companion, or assistance with visual or auditory information.
- Presenting your Access Card or its unique identification number can often reduce the need for repeated explanations and the submission of extensive personal documentation.
- The Access Card can also work online with ticketing systems to unlock necessary access facilities.
- You can choose to upgrade your free registration to a full Access Card through the application process.
Nimbus Disability
When you register, Nimbus Disability will handle all your information securely and safely without us ever having cause to see the details behind why you need accessible seating and ticketing options.
Once you’ve registered, Nimbus will then provide you with a unique ID number on your Digital Access Pass or Access Card. If the +1 or +2 is allocated, you can use this to book Essential Companion tickets.
If you are not able to use online forms and would be unable, because of the nature of your impairment, to access online sales, you are still requested to register. Nimbus will be able to assist with telephone application on 0330 808 5108.

How to book Essential Companion tickets?
Once you have your Access Card or The Alex Digital Access Pass displaying a +1/+2 symbols, follow the steps below.
- Visit the booking page for the event you are looking to attend
- Add the tickets for the access customer needing the +1/+2, along with the Essential Companion ticket
- Enter the Access Card or Digital Access Pass details when prompted, to verify your eligibility. If you have multiple Card or Passholders in your party requiring companions, you can add multiple ID numbers in one booking.
- Head to the checkout and complete your order. You can only proceed to checkout if the number of Essential Companion tickets added, does not exceed the +1/+2 entitlement shown on the Access Card(s) or pass(es) provided.
Don’t forget to bring your Access Card or Pass details on the day of your visit.
Please note
- You will be unable to book Essential Companion tickets without an Access Card or Digital Access Pass ID.
- Access Registration is provided by Nimbus Disability on behalf of The Alex.
- The decision to approve an Access Card or Digital Access Pass application is determined by Nimbus Disability and not The Alex.
- The Alex cannot influence the decision-making process and stands by the outcome of each application.
- We will provide a complimentary Essential Companion ticket for any Access Card or Digital Access Pass holder who displays the +1 or +2 Essential Companion symbol on their membership.
