Welcome to The Faversham Canaries a new play launching Monkey with a Shotgun, a theatre collective for Faversham. Join us at The Alexander Centre at the start of something new and different. We have brought together professional and amateur actors and creatives who share a passion to produce excellent actor led drama. Moving forward there will be many opportunities to join us or support us. The Faversham Canaries blends dark comedy and heartbreaking tragedy to tell the untold stories of local women working at Faversham’s munitions factory in 1916.
Amidst toxic poisoning, class struggles, and the ever-present danger of being blown up, the working women’s humour and resilience shine through a collection of stories based on true events.
