British Generals of The Second World War
How generals were promoted, succeeded and failed between 1939 and 1945. An explanation of their backgrounds, careers and relationships, with examples and analysis, as they rode the snakes and ladders of wartime service. This talk gives an insight into the range of appointments, the pressures individual generals faced, and the ways in which their careers could rise or falter. Generals who had won the VC were special, but not immune from failure. Others led a charmed life, some suffered injury—one from a grand piano—whilst others were given a second chance.
Mike Cosgrove has undertaken extensive research into British Second World War Generals and will share his view of those on whom The Snakes and Ladders of luck fell.
